The Chagrin Valley Rotary Club is proud to sponsor the 2013 Chagrin Documentary Film Fest Gala on Saturday, October 5 at South Franklin Circle! The CDFF Gala celebrates the documentary filmmakers whose films will be screened at this year’s film fest at the Chagrin Valley’s party of the year!

The Chagrin Documentary Film Fest, a five-day celebration of the spirit and passion of the documentary filmmaker, was named one of 2013’s “Top 50 film festivals worth the entry fee” by MovieMaker Magazine. At just four years old, the CDFF is already regarded as a premier event for filmmakers around the world, and a must-see for the 5,000+ people who attend the festival each year to view more than 50 films screened throughout the Village of Chagrin Falls.

As a service organization that performs charitable work locally and throughout the world, Chagrin Valley Rotary Club supports CDFF’s mission to provide a showcase for up and coming filmmakers to share their stories documenting the human condition. The work of documentarians provides a window into the lives of others whose challenges, tragedies and triumphs enlighten and inspire us to make the world a better place. That’s why a partnership between the two organizations is a natural match.

Most importantly, the gala is the primary annual fundraising event for the Chagrin Valley Rotary Club, which will use the proceeds from the event to advance our humanitarian work around the globe. Beneficiaries of this year’s gala are:

El Porvenir. A non-profit organization that provides self-sustaining water, sanitation and reforestation projects in rural Nicaragua where 55% of the population lacks access to safe drinking water. El Porvenir improves the health and lives of Nicaragua’s children and families giving them hope for the future.

Gift of Life. Gift of Life is a Rotary program that provides life-saving heart surgeries to children from developing countries. Since its inception, Gift of Life has saved hundreds of children and provided medical equipment, consulting and physician training to establish pediatric cardiac surgical suites in Egypt, Kenya, Nicaragua and Haiti.
